Samsung said on Tuesday that the return time for its revolutionary foldable phones would be extended to 100 days. This means that anyone can purchase either the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G or Z Flip 5G, use it for three months, and then return it for a full refund. This new program is dubbed “Buy and Try” by Samsung, and it’s the first time the South Korean electronics giant has offered such a generous return policy for its mobile phones. Previously, the return period had been capped at 15 days.

The Samsung Buy and Try Program

“This new initiative will help consumers try and see if a foldable device is right for them, as part of Samsung’s commitment to making foldable devices more accessible for everyone,” according to a spokesperson for the company. The Buy and Try program will be launching in February 2021 and will likely run until April. If it’s a success, it’s possible that Samsung will also extend the returns period for its other devices too. At the moment, the extended returns are only available on Samsung’s latest foldable phone models, which use innovative technology to give users more convenience.

Foldable Smartphones

As the name suggests, these phones are completely foldable, allowing users to stow away the phone into a more compact space when not in use. Foldable phones are particularly useful for those who enjoy watching films and playing games on their phone. Games such as video slots at a casino online always look much better on a larger screen, and it’s also much easier to use the touchscreen controls. The foldable screen technology means that smartphone users no longer have to worry about the tradeoffs between having a large screen as these phones can easily be folded up and stashed inside a normal-sized pocket.

Foldable smartphones are still relatively new, and there has been a bit of a reluctance for consumers to get on board with the idea, especially after some poorly designed early models. The original Galaxy Fold, in particular, was seriously flawed, and consumers will no doubt be put off by the large price tags of these devices. Samsun hopes that the Buy and Try program will reduce the hesitance from consumers and that once people buy, they’ll realise just how much better a foldable phone can be.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a significant improvement on the original Galaxy Fold, adding a bigger and better display, 5G connectivity and improved durability. It’s also a lot more expensive, but it’s hard to argue with the price when the technology is this good. The defining feature of this phone is, of course, its extra-large foldable screen. In reality, it’s more like a tablet when it’s fully folded out, which does make it a little heavy and cumbersome but not so as to be unusable.

Because of its larger outside display, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 provides a better first impression than the Galaxy Fold. Because the cover screen has risen from 4.6 inches to 6.2 inches, you no longer feel like you’re using Android through a peep-hole. On top of this, the sturdier new Ultra-Thin Glass display is designed to be tougher while providing a better touchscreen feel than the previous plastic screen. There’s also a special A Hideaway hinge that employs sweeper technology to keep dust and filth from entering the phone.
